Donations are gathered to support emission offsets from event attendees, exhibitors, and
sponsors. For most events, donations of $20 per attendee (Based on 20,000 attendees) will let us offset
the emissions covered by the energy use associated with this event by over 200%
(Based on an estimated cost to buy green power certificates = 1.0 cents per kWh)
In kind donations are used to help offset the
emissions generated by the 2008 FBR OPEN and then retired by Leonardo Academy.

Companies and
Organizations
Companies and Organizations are invited to make monetary donations or
in-kind donations of emission reductions to help offset the
emissions of this event. Examples of emission reductions that
can be donated include: renewable energy certificates (RECs),
emission reductions from industrial process improvements and energy efficiency improvements,
emission sequestration in forests and land use actions, and emissions allowances and reduction credits
from emission regulatory programs.
Attendees
Attendees are invited to make monetary donations to help offset
the emissions caused by your participation in this event. A $20 donation purchases enough emission reductions to offset the average
emissions caused by one attendee's travel, lodging, meals, and event
activities by 200%. The monetary donations received are used by Leonardo
Academy to purchase and retire renewable energy certificates (RECs)
to help offset the emissions of the 2008 FBR OPEN. All
renewable energy certificates purchased are Green-E certified
renewable energy certificates from wind energy.
