Emission Reductions

This year's GovEnergy event reached the Cleaner and Greener Platinum certification level by offsetting all of its emissions through the purchase of RECs from 3Degrees.  A total of 4,322 MWh of RECs were purchased to offset the event itself, in addition to three planning meetings prior to the actual event.  As a result, 100% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from the four events was offset, and health-related emissions, including SO2, NOx, and mercury, were offset several times over.  The RECs purcahsed for the event resulted from wind power generated in the US in 2010. 

Attention event attendees!  While the event has been offset at 100%, you can still help make GovEnergy 2010 a more sustainable event by offsetting your own emissions associated with travel to and from the event, building event space energy use, hotel stays and meals at a higher level.  Make your donation here!
